The National at 1401 Elm Street
- Dallas, TX
1401 Elm Street is one of the original high-rise buildings in the State of Texas. Standing 53 Stories tall and taking up a full city block, the historical landmark building in the center of downtown Dallas is a City, State, and National Treasure.
Built in the 50’s - the exterior was clad with Greek Pentelikon Marble. Over the years, the stone became loose and was falling off the building. The building was left unoccupied for many years. HyComb was consulted to replace the cladding with new Pentelikon Marble using our system and sourcing the stone from the original quarry to maintain the historical significance.
Upon visiting the site, HyComb determined that the existing stone could be removed. Removing that stone and processing with HyComb each side and slice the 2 & 3 CM slabs in half and reinstall back onto the building.
Returning this beautiful building back to its original splendor UTILIZING THE EXISTING MATERIALS! (not having to extract more stone from the earth).
